2019 Rocky Mountain Division Convention Conclave of the
Royal Order of the Wouff-Hong
Maintaining decency and order in the ham radio community, since 1919
Friday August 9th 10:00 PM
Campus Housing area
According to the 1930 Radio Amateur’s Handbook, the Wouff-Hong "is
amateur radio’s most sacred symbol and stands for the enforcement of law
and order in amateur operation." The Royal Order of the
Wouff-Hong is open to any licensed HAM and member of the ARRL, while
attending an ARRL-approved State, Division or National Convention, who
completes the Wouff-Hong induction ceremony. This ever growing and
most secretive of all Amateur Radio Societies traces it origin to ARRL
co-founder, “The Old Man” Hiram Percy Maxim and the time when radio
amateurs were getting back on the air after World War One.
We are authorized to hold a Wouff-Hong Ceremony at the 2019 Rocky
Mountain Division Convention. The Conclave will gather Friday August 9,
2019, on or near 9:30pm at the Campus Housing – Weber State University,
the ceremony will begin at 10:00pm MDT. The ceremony is steeped in
mystery and a fun activity for all ages. Participants completing
the induction ceremony receive a really cool, frame-able, certificate
and a Wouff-Hong pin following the ceremony.
This is your chance to take the plunge and become a part of an Amateur
Radio tradition on its 100th year of observance. There is limited space
and membership materials, so it’s first come – first served basis. Don’t
be left out, get there early!
More info will be available by contacting W7WJB (w7wjb@brummett.info) and on-site “talk-in” VHF simplex 146.520.
